I toyed around with this post all night. Do I post or not?? That was really my big question.
So I decided it would be fun to play a little game. Never have I ever… Have you played?
So we recently bought an old farmhouse in Maine, and we love it. Our home was built in 1794, 224 year ago. Additions is mid 1800’s, so still a long time ago.
I would love to see your comments on things that you never ever had to go through prior to moving into a new place of your own.
Here is mine!
Never have I ever had to use a toilet plunger so often.
We have a strict no wipes down the toilet, we don’t need them in the leach field. So that isn’t the cause. But I feel that every few days after the little ones go to the bathroom, we are always having to plunge the toilets. So it made me think. Do these kids poop bigger than they did 200 years ago? Our toilets aren’t 200 years old so it has to be the plumbing system.
What have you encountered that you never thought you would have to go through? Leave me a comment!
Well, the worst home owner experience I’ve ever had was in the home we owned prior to our current home. Shortly after we moved into that house, I noticed the air vents were in desperate need of cleaning. I called out a duct/vent cleaning company to come service the air ducts. When they came, they went up into our attic and proceeded to tell me the state of our air ducts. Essentially, he said we had rats living in the ducts ( to prove it they showed me pictures of dead rats in our attic). They said the ducts had disintegrated, due to age spreading the germs and bacteria found in the rats urine and feces into the air we were breathing. He said it would cost $10,000 to replace our whole system and if I didn’t do it, I would contract cancer from the polluted air in the house and die!
Needless to say, we stayed in that home only two years before selling it! I could tell you more storie about that house but for the sake time, I’ll spare you. I freely admit it, I’m a spoiled princess! I need a nice, clean, modern home🤨 cannot handle it otherwise!

We spent so much money getting that house up to health code standards. We finally gave up living there when we could no longer stand the traffic noise and dealing with the next door neighbors who hadn’t a clue about how to be considerate of others!

That would do it. We have a neighbor on one side only and so far he has been great.
Whenever you want to take a trip to Maine, please come stay. We would love to have you.

I’m visiting on holiday around Saratoga springs but it’s quite rural here, I’ve googled how to survive bear attacks but I don’t know if I’d put up much of a fight

That is so funny. My 10 year old walks around with a sharp stick thinking he can beat the bear!
And then he hears noises in the dark and runs inside all afraid
